In Front of USS Arizona Anchor

Well we made it to Oahu and just finished out first whole day here. To start we visited the USS Arizona Memorial. Kinda touching knowing 1177 men died in just that single boat explosion and most are still entombed in the wreckage. There was a half hour movie about Pearl Harbor and the Japanese attack followed by a boat trip to the memorial achored on top of the Arizona wreck.

We're staying at the Navy Lodge on Ford Island. It is a large island in the middle of Pearl Harbor. The Arizona was anchored on this island as also was the USS Utah, both wer sunk during the attack. The Lodge is less than a half mile from each of the memorials, Dad

While at the memorial, I noticed people throwing their leis in the water as a show of respect for all the men buried at sea that day, that was so touching to me.

Then while Dad went to the National Memorial Cemetary of the Pacific, I went to the Hawaii State Art museum. which was really interesting.

Then we drove up the coast to see alot of homeless people camped on the beach with some very interesting building materials used to build their makeshift houses. We drove to where the road ended and watched the sun set over the water. A beautiful end to a beautiful day. Hope all of you are well and we love you very much, MOM
